I am pretty familiar with car audio but cant figure this one out and hoping you can. I currently have my cooler radio hooked up to my car stereo with 4 6x9s powered by a 12 volt sealed lawn mower battery. My question is I want to put a cool little system in my softball backpack to hear jams nice and loud hooked up to a car stereo and 1 6x9. The 12 volt lawn mower battery weighs about 18 pounds and trying to see if I can power a car stereo that wont weigh down my backpack so much maybe 6 or 7 pounds at max. I know that I wont hear music as long but oh well. I have hooked my d cells battery to it but it just dies quick and gets expensive. . I have seen some backpack radio’s but they have tiny little speakers. Or if you can offer any suggestions car insurance. Auto parts : Sound Dampening Material Dodge 2005. Question about 2011 VW GTI DynaAudio system? Question about 2011 VW GTI DynaAudio system? I am about to buy a new 2011 VW GTI and I am not sure about the stereo system. In every car I've ever had, I've always installed an after market system with multiple amps, subs, mids, and tweets (Alpine, Pioneer, kenwood, memphis audio, JL-Audio, etc.) because stock systems lack that hi-fi and in depth sound. However, this time I really don't want to install anything. I want to leave the stock stereo system in place (which is the RNS 315 Navigation System). I've read mixed reviews on the DynaAudio system so I'm not sure what I should do. I've also read that the speakers are shitty. I wonder if the stock system would sound good enough on its own or could I just install an amp pushing a 10" or 12" sub and it would fill in that deep bass? When I test drove the car, I did test out the sound system, but it was on Sirius Radio, the doors were open, and the salesman was talking. I couldn't focus on the sound really. From what I recall, it was "decent" sounding. But it definitely didn't have any "Wow" factor. So I'd like to hear your thoughts on the DynaAudio system, Likes/Dislikes, Sound impressions, system performance, and recommendations. Thanks in advance! car insurance. Sterling . How to Seal Aluminum Oil PansThe oil pan on your vehicle is the containment area for the oil that keeps the engine lubed up and running properly. If there's a problem with the pan, like an oil leak, then you need to fix it before it results in something truly serious, like the loss of enough oil to cause your engine to seize. However, if you can seal the oil pan up in time, it will work just as well as it did before. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Socket wrench Aluminum sealant Soap Water Plastic container Gloves Spatula Step by Step : 1 Drain the oil into a sealable plastic container. Place the drainage container beneath the oil pan's drainage bolt, located on the bottom of the pan. Use a wrench or socket wrench to remove the bolt and drain out the oil. 2 Remove the aluminum oil pan by unbolting the anchoring bolts and lowering the pan gently to the ground. Disconnect the oil line running from the pan by removing the bolts connecting the line to the oil pan. 3 Wash the oil pan out with soap and water, the aluminum won't be damaged by either, and then drain the mixture of soap, water and oil into another sealable plastic container. These are both considered hazardous waste and will need to be disposed of as such. 4 Apply aluminum sealant to the area(s) with leakage. Use your gloved hands, or apply the sealant with a small, flexible spatula. Make sure the sealant completely fills the gap and coats the area around it, creating a patch that the oil won't be able to slide through. Once the sealant is dry, put the oil pan back on the vehicle, reattach the oil line and pour new oil into the pan. Check for leaks to be sure your sealant worked.
Sterling . How to Change the Blades on a Woods Bush HogWoods and Bush Hog are separate companies that make farm implements and tractor attachments, including brush mowers that are designed to be towed behind tractors. Woods' headquarters is in Oregon, Illinois. Bush Hog is located in Selma, Alabama. Changing blades on one of these mowers is both straightforward and difficult. Removing and reinstalling the blade bolt nut stumps some owners. This might help. Use a long wrench handle. Remember that torque is always expressed in foot pounds. So, an easy 45 pound pull on a 10 foot handle equals 450 foot pounds. These instructions are specific to the Bush Hog 280 Series. Some blade bolt nuts may be as small as 1 5/16 inch. Difficulty:Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Wood blocks 1 11/16 inch socket (for Bush Hog 280 series) 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch socket adapter Socket extension Breaker bar Steel pipe extension Propane torch Click type torque wrench Steel tape Maul Step by Step : 1 Raise the Bush Hog cutter and securely lock it in position with wood blocks. 2 Remove the nuts from the blade bolts, using a 1 11/16 inch socket through the access hole in the deck. Use a socket adapter if necessary, a socket extension, a breaker bar and a steel pipe extension. Slip the steel pipe extension over the breaker bar to gain leverage. If you need to, heat the nut with a propane torch to loosen it. 3 Inspect the blade bolt shoulder for wear. Replace the blade bolt shoulder if necessary. 4 Assemble new blades to the blade holder, using blade bolts, nuts and lock washers. 5 Calculate the torque at the blade bolt nut by first measuring the distance from the torque wrench head to the handle with a steel tape. Slip a steel pipe extension of a known length over the torque wrench handle and calculate the torque using a longer handle. For example, tripling the length of the wrench triples the torque in foot pounds. 6 Tighten the nuts to 450 foot pounds of torque using a 1 11/16 inch socket, a socket extension, a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch socket adapter and a steel pipe extension. Strike the blade bolt heads with a maul or a similar heavy hammer. 7 Retighten the blade bolts to 450 foot pounds of torque. 8 Spin the blades to ensure that they swing freely throughout an entire rotation. If the blades do not swing freely, remove them, locate the problem and repair. 9 Lower the Bush Hog. *Even the happiest, most beautifully tuned vehicle overheats occasionally. If you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic on an extremely hot day, chances are that your car's dashboard temperature indicator will rise or a warning light will come on. Here's how to help your vehicle regain its cool: At the first sign of overheating, shut off your air conditioner and open your windows. Doing so decreases the load on the engine and helps it cool off. If you continue to overheat, turn on the heater and blower. Doing so transfers the heat from the engine to the interior of the car. (This does wonders for your overheated engine but very little for you!) If you're stopped hi traffic and the temperature gauge is rising, shift into Neutral and rev the engine a little. Doing so makes the water pump and the fan speed up, which draws more liquid and air through the radiator. The increased air and liquid circulation helps cool things off. Try not to ride your brakes. Crawl along slowly, on little more than an idle, rather than moving up and then braking repeatedly. Brake drag increases the load on the engine and makes it heat up. If traffic is crawling, move up only when the gap between you and the vehicle in front of you gets too wide. .Chapter 21: What to Do If Your Car Drops Dead or Won't Start AAJ * If you think that your vehicle is about to boil over, drive to the side of the road, open the hood, and sit there until things cool off. Remember, don't open the radiator cap under these circumstances, and if your engine has boiled over, don't add water until the engine is quite cool again. If you must add water when the engine is still a little warm, add the water while the engine is running in Neutral. Follow the instructions at the beginning of this chapter to park where you can safely get out and open your hood. Then, to avoid the possibility of burning yourself, follow the instructions in Chapter 14 for opening a radiator pressure cap and adding liquid to the system safely. Sometimes very hot weather causes vapor lock, which makes your car stop 959

Overheating When It Isn't Hot Outside Although hot weather is the most common cause of overheating, many other factors can cause the same problem. If your vehicle overheats in traffic in normal weather, one of the following may be the culprit: * The water and coolant level in the radiator is low. If you haven't checked your fluid level in a while (or ever), check it now, either by looking at the level through the side of the coolant recovery system or by following the instructions in "Check the Radiator" in Chapter 3. * There's a leak in the cooling system. Chapter 14 has an entire section that explains where to look for leaks in various parts of the cooling system and what to do after you find them. Sterling . How to Adjust clutch on 1998 vw microbus?
Lincoln Continental. * * If you can't locate any leaks, your thermostat may be malfunctioning. Obviously, you can't replace the thermostat at the side of the road, but Chapter 14 has instructions for doing so cheaply and easily once you're safely back home. In the meantime, you can eliminate this malfunction as a possibility if you wait until the engine cools down completely and use those instructions to remove the old thermostat and reconnect the hoses. If the car starts up and runs well without the thermostat, the old one was probably screwing up the works. Get a new thermostat immediately if you find that your old one isn't working. If you drive for long distances without a thermostat, you can damage your engine. * If none of these seems to be the problem and your vehicle continues to overheat, check out "Overcoming Overheating" in Chapter 14. Part IV: Dealing with On-the-Road Emergencies. If \lour Car Won't Start Before I end this chapter, consider those wonderful days when your car won't start. If you left your lights, heater, radio, or some other electrical gizmo on after you parked the car, you know what the trouble is: Your battery is dead. Of course, there are other possible reasons that your car won't start. The next section, "Won't-start symptoms," lists them. The last section, "Jumping a start," explains the safest way to jump-start your vehicle. Won't-start symptoms Sterling . How can you remove a name off a car title if the person is in another state?

The following list outlines the most common circumstances and tells you what action you can take to try to remedy each situation: * The car is silent when you turn the key in the ignition. Check the battery terminal cable connections (see Chapter 3). If they look very corroded, force the point of a screwdriver (with an insulated or wooden handle) between the connector and the terminal post and twist it to lodge it firmly. Then try to start the engine. If it starts, you need to clean or replace your cables. You can find instructions for cleaning them in Chapter 3. The car makes a clicking noise but won't start. This sound usually means a dead battery. If not, check the wiring to and from the starter for a loose connection. * The car cranks over but won't start. Check the fuel supply to your engine (see "Fuel" earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 13). If that's okay, check whether the electrical spark is getting through (see "Fire," earlier in this chapter, and Chapter 12). * The engine starts but dies. If your car has a carburetor, check your carburetor adjustment and your choke to see whether the choke is first closing and then opening. (Chapter 13 has instructions for both of these checks.)
